About Me
Hello, I’m Andrea Pejic, a registered psychologist with a passion for helping individuals navigate life's challenges and discover their inner strength. With experience in both private practice and diverse settings such as juvenile justice centres, I understand the unique and varied paths people take in their personal healing journeys.
At The Quiet Refuge, my goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to move forward with confidence. I offer a range of evidence-based approaches to help you achieve positive change.
My Background and Experience
I hold a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) and a Master of Professional Psychology. I am a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and also SIRA accredited. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, such as job seekers facing complex challenges like trauma, substance abuse, and homelessness.
I have also worked with clients across different age groups, helping them navigate life transitions and manage mental health conditions. I offer specialized assessments, including ADHD assessment and diagnosis, and have a particular interest in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), having written my thesis on this topic.
Therapeutic Approach
I believe therapy is a journey that begins with empathy, trust, and a deep understanding of each person’s unique circumstances. My approach is tailored to meet your needs, and I draw on a variety of therapeutic modalities, including:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Helping you identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, enabling you to develop healthier coping strategies.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): An evidence-based approach for healing trauma, helping you process distressing memories and experiences
Mindfulness-Based Therapy: A practice that encourages present-moment awareness, reducing stress and helping you cultivate emotional balance.
Person-Centered Therapy: A compassionate, non-directive approach that honors your perspective and empowers you to take charge of your healing journey.
I believe that everyone has the capacity for healing, and my role is to support and guide you through this process. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, or OCD, my mission is to provide you with the tools, support, and understanding you need to find peace and clarity.
Why I Started The Quiet Refuge
I created The Quiet Refuge because I believe that everyone deserves a peaceful, supportive space to work through their struggles. In today’s fast-paced, often overwhelming world, it’s easy to feel lost or disconnected. I wanted to create an environment where clients could slow down, feel safe, and take the necessary steps toward healing, growth, and self-discovery.
I am deeply committed to fostering an atmosphere of compassion and trust where you can explore your thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment. Therapy is a powerful tool for change, and I am honored to walk alongside you in your journey to emotional well-being.
A Personal Note
Outside of my professional life, I am passionate about nature, travel, cooking, and spending time with family. I’m dedicated to continuous learning and growth, both as a psychologist and as an individual, which helps me provide the best care possible.
